3 dead, 9 injured in Bali funeral explosion

A cremation oven exploded in the midst of a Balinese funeral ceremony, killing three individuals and leaving 9 with burn accidents.

The ceremony, formally known as ngaben, happened on Friday, Aug. 19, at Adat Selat village in Gianyar regency. 

A ngaben ceremony normally entails the cremation of a number of deceased in a single location, and is thus attended by a number of households without delay. On this tragic incident, it was suspected that the explosion was brought on by a leaking fuel tube within the cremation oven, which unfold the flames and burned a number of attendees. 

Among the many victims have been a 14-year-old and a 34-year-old, who suffered burn wounds that just about coated their total our bodies. The 2 have been pronounced lifeless on the day of the tragedy in Sanglah Common Hospital, Denpasar. 

Yesterday, Sanglah spokesman I Dewa Ketut Kresna reported the demise of one other sufferer, that of a 32-year-old man. 

“The sufferer died after being beneath [the hospital’s] take care of 9 days.” Kresna stated.

Of the 9 reported injured, 4 victims have been admitted to the ICU in Sanglah for extreme burn wounds.

Three of the injured victims have been admitted to Sanjiwani Hospital in Gianyar. Fortunately, two of them, who had suffered minor burn accidents, have been discharged.
