British family stranded in New Zealand for seven months after three sets of flights cancelled
A British household has spent seven months making an attempt to get house to the UK from New Zealand, with three units of flights being cancelled alongside the best way.
Rachel Broadbent first booked flights from Auckland to the UK in September 2021 for herself, her husband and their 10-year-old daughter.
That first itinerary – flying with Cathay Pacific, Singapore Airways and Lufthansa – value the Broadbents NZD4,400 (£2,300) in complete. However in January, Lufthansa emailed to say that two legs of the journey had been cancelled, blaming “the present Covid-19 state of affairs” for the change.
The household might have flown so far as Hong Kong, however would have needed to make their very own preparations from there.
After taking a refund for the journey, Ms Broadbent rebooked the journey with Singapore Airways and Lufthansa, paying practically £1,000 extra for a similar journey.
This fare fell by, too, with Lufthansa cancelling the Singapore to London leg and reserving the household onto a later one – which they might not arrive in time to connect with. Once more, they selected to cancel and settle for a refund.

The Broadbents haven’t travelled to the UK and seen any relations in three years.
